Description of Services & Benefits
Please read this page carefully

Pre-Existing Condition(s): Regarding the Trip Cancellation/Interruption, Emergency Accident/Sickness and Emergency Medical Transportation Benefits, this policy excludes coverage for those medical conditions that manifested themselves, became acute, or were being treated in the 60 days before purchase of these benefits. However, a Member may have a condition that requires them to prescribed is unstable or there has been a change in the required prescription or dosage, that condition will not be considered pre-existing. (Example: I have diabetes and I take medication on a daily basis. Will I be covered? Yes, so long as you have not had a change in the required medication or dosage and your diabetes is under control during the 60 days before the coverage goes into effect.) Note: If coverage is purchased by final payment to the travel supplier, the Preexisting Conditions is waived.

Description of Coverage
A) Trip Cancellation and Interruption Benefit:

Coverage pays for non-refundable, unused payments and deposits if Insured's trip is canceled or interrupted for reasons such as:

  • Unforeseeable Sickness, Injury or death of the Insured, a Family Member or a Traveling Companion. Injury or Sickness must be so disabling as to reasonably cause a trip to be delayed, canceled or interrupted.
  • Unforeseeable Circumstances, which are those events or their consequences which could not have been reasonably foreseen or expected by the Member, and are outside the Member's control. This includes coverage for miscarriage.
  • Default or Financial Default by the tour operator or person or agency other than the tour operator or person or agency from which the Member purchased these benefits. Default or Financial Default occurring on or before the Effective Date will not be covered.
  • We will cover dependent children of the Member who are under the age of sixteen (16), sharing the same room or cabin with the Member Parent, for the trip cancellation and interruption benefit, at no additional cost.

This membership benefit does not cover: a) Carrier caused delays such as mechanical difficulties (This is covered under Travel Delay), unless they are the result of organized labor strikes that affect public transportation; b) travel arrangements canceled by an airline, cruise line or tour operator unless the cancellation is the result of bad weather, an organized labor strike which affects public transportation; c) change in plans by the Member, a Family Member or a Traveling Companion; d) financial circumstances of the Member, Family Member or Traveling Companion; e) any business or contractual obligation of a Member, a Family Member or a Traveling Companion; f) default by the person, agency. airline, cruise line, tour operator, hotel or other travel supplier from whom you purchased your travel arrangement or from whom you purchased this coverage, g) any governmental regulation or prohibition; h) an event or circumstances which occurs prior to the Departure Date, subject to the Preexisting Condition Limitation.

B) Travel Delay:

Reimburses up to $100 per 24-hour period, up to the total amount shown on the Schedule of Benefits for reasonable, additional accommodations and traveling expenses incurred by a Member because of a travel delay of at least 24-hours. The Member must make every reasonable effort to avoid additional expenses. This benefit is payable for only one delay per trip. Travel delay must be due to; a) carrier delay such as mechanical problems or weather; b) lost passport, money or travel documents; c) quarantine; d) Natural disaster; or e) Injury or Sickness of a Member or Their Traveling Companion.

C) Loss of Baggage/ Travel Documents

Reimburses up to the amount shown on the Schedule of Benefits, for damage to or loss or theft of the Member's baggage, passports, visas or other travel documents during the Member's trip. We will also pay for unauthorized use of the Member's credit cards, if the Member has complied with all credit card conditions imposed by the credit card companies.

PROPERTY NOT COVERED:

We will not pay for loss or damage to; a) animals; b) property used in trade, business or for the purpose of the production of income; c) motor vehicles, aircraft, or other conveyances or equipment or parts pertaining to such conveyances; d) artificial limbs, false teeth, any type of eyeglasses or contact lenses; f) tickets, except for administrative fees required to reissue tickets; g) money, stamps, stocks and bonds, postal or money orders; h) property shipped as freight, or shipped prior to the Departure Date of your trip; I) credit cards; j) contraband; or k) hearing aids.

SPECIAL LIMITATIONS:

After reporting your claim to the Common Carrier, our coverage is secondary to any benefits payable by the Common Carrier. We will not pay more than $500 for the first item and, thereafter, not more than $250 per item up to the Maximum on the Schedule of Benefits.

ADDITIONAL EXCLUSIONS:

We will not pay this benefit for loss due to; a) defective materials or craftsmanship; b) normal wear and tear; c) deterioration; d) rodents, animals, or insects.

PAYMENT FOR LOSS:

We will pay the cost of repair or replacement of the Member's damaged Baggage, less depreciation, or at our option we may repair or replace the Member's Baggage. We may take all or part of the damaged Baggage at the appraised or agreed value. In the event of a loss to a pair or set of items, we may at our option; a) repair or replace any part to restore the pair or set to its value before the loss; or b) pay the difference between the value of the property before and after the loss. If the covered baggage, passports and visas are in the charge of a charter or common carrier, and delivery is delayed, this coverage will continue until such property is delivered to the Member. This coverage does not include loss caused by the delay.

D) Baggage Delay:

Reimburses for the necessary emergency purchase of replacement items, up to the total amount shown on the Schedule of Benefits, when checked baggage is misplace by a Common Carrier for at least 24 hours from the time of your arrival during a trip. We must receive proof of your expenditure and proof that you filed a claim with the Common Carrier. This does not apply to carry-on luggage nor does it apply if your baggage is delayed after you reach your usual place of residence. We will cover only one baggage delay per trip.

E) Emergency Accident / Sickness:

If the Member's injuries, sickness, or "serious illness" result in expenses shown below, we will pay for the "Necessary" medical treatment up to the "Usual" and "Customary" charge for such expense incurred within 365 days from the date of the Accident up to the limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits. The first expense must be incurred within forty-eight hours of the date of the incident if for a covered accident, providing the initial injury was incurred during the trip. The injury or sickness or "Serious Illness" must occur and require treatment while the Member is on a covered trip. Such expense must be for:

a) treatment by a "Physician"; or
b) medical services in a "Hospital"; or
c) the use of a ground ambulance within forty-eight hours of the covered accident; or
d) treatment of natural teeth.

Such expenses must be in excess of any other valid and collectible insurance, but not more than the maximum amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits.

We will not pay for:
A) hernia, however caused;
or B) services or treatment given by any person employed or retained by you; or C) experimental procedures;
or D) cosmetic surgery or procedures;
or E) medical expenses for which the Member is entitled to benefits under any worker's compensation act;
or F) any surgical or medical treatment which can reasonably be delayed until your return to your usual place of domicile;
or G) any treatment or medical treatment which at the time of departure is known to be required, and to be continued during the trip;
or H) the cost of dentures, dental appliances, false limbs, hearing aids, contact or corneal lenses or spectacles (prescription or otherwise);
or I) any repatriation costs not authorized by WAS;
or J) the additional cost of a single or private room at a hospital, clinic, or nursing home except when the physician treating the Member Person considers it necessary.

F) Emergency Medical Transportation:

We will arrange and pay this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits.
